IRS: Cheapest Obamacare Plan Will Be $20,000 Per Family

IRS: Cheapest Obamacare Plan Will Be $20,000 Per Family

(CNSNews.com) – In a final regulation issued Wednesday, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) assumed that under Obamacare the cheapest health insurance plan available in 2016 for a family will cost $20,000 for the year.

Under Obamacare, Americans will be required to buy health insurance or pay a penalty to the IRS.
The IRS's assumption that the cheapest plan for family will cost $20,000 per year is found in examples the IRS gives to help people understand how to calculate the penalty they will need to pay the government if they do not buy a mandated health plan.

The examples point to families of four and families of five, both of which the IRS expects in its assumptions to pay a minimum of $20,000 per year for a bronze plan.
“The annual national average bronze plan premium for a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children) is $20,000,” the regulation says.

Bronze will be the lowest tier health-insurance plan available under Obamacare--after Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Under the law, the penalty for not buying health insurance is supposed to be capped at either the annual average Bronze premium, 2.5 percent of taxable income, or $2,085.00 per family in 2016.

In the new final rules published Wednesday, IRS set in law the rules for implementing the penalty Americans must pay if they fail to obey Obamacare's mandate to buy insurance.
To help illustrate these rules, the IRS presented examples of different situations families might find themselves in.

In the examples, the IRS assumes that families of five who are uninsured would need to pay an average of $20,000 per year to purchase a Bronze plan in 2016.

Using the conditions laid out in the regulations, the IRS calculates that a family earning $120,000 per year that did not buy insurance would need to pay a "penalty" (a word the IRS still uses despite the Supreme Court ruling that it is in fact a "tax") of $2,400 in 2016.

For those wondering how clear the IRS's clarifications of this new "penalty" rule are, here is one of the actual examples the IRS gives:

“Example 3. Family without minimum essential coverage.
"(i) In 2016, Taxpayers H and J are married and file a joint return. H and J have three children: K, age 21, L, age 15, and M, age 10. No member of the family has minimum essential coverage for any month in 2016. H and J’s household income is $120,000. H and J’s applicable filing threshold is $24,000. The annual national average bronze plan premium for a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children) is $20,000.

"(ii) For each month in 2016, under paragraphs (b)(2)(ii) and (b)(2)(iii) of this section, the applicable dollar amount is $2,780 (($695 x 3 adults) + (($695/2) x 2 children)). Under paragraph (b)(2)(i) of this section, the flat dollar amount is $2,085 (the lesser of $2,780 and $2,085 ($695 x 3)). Under paragraph (b)(3) of this section, the excess income amount is $2,400 (($120,000 - $24,000) x 0.025). Therefore, under paragraph (b)(1) of this section, the monthly penalty amount is $200 (the greater of $173.75 ($2,085/12) or $200 ($2,400/12)).

"(iii) The sum of the monthly penalty amounts is $2,400 ($200 x 12). The sum of the monthly national average bronze plan premiums is $20,000 ($20,000/12 x 12). Therefore, under paragraph (a) of this section, the shared responsibility payment imposed on H and J for 2016 is $2,400 (the lesser of $2,400 or $20,000).”

Discussion:
Does anyone have comments on this post? I think that this may be a little crazy for those people that make $20,000 a year. Is this a tax or a penalty? How could it possibly be unconstitutional?

RIM changes name, unveils BlackBerry 10 in comeback bid

RIM changes name, unveils BlackBerry 10 in comeback bid

By Euan Rocha and Sinead Carew

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Research In Motion Ltd(TOR:RIM.TO - News) unveiled on Wednesday the long-delayed line of smartphones it hopes will put the company on the comeback trail in a market it once dominated, but said sales of the BlackBerry 10 in the United States will not start until March.
Signaling his hopes for a fresh start for the company that pioneered on-your-hip email, Chief Executive Thorsten Heins also said RIM was abandoning the name it has used since its inception in 1985 to take on the name of its signature product.

"From this point forward, RIM becomes BlackBerry." Heins said at the New York launch. "It is one brand; it is one promise."

RIM launched its first BlackBerry back in 1999 as a way for busy executives to stay in touch with their clients and their offices, and the Canadian company quickly cornered the market for secure corporate and government email.

But its star faded as competition rose. The BlackBerry is now a far-behind also-ran in the race for market share, with a 3.4 percent global showing in the fourth quarter, down from 20 percent three years before. Its North American market share is even worse: a mere 2 percent in the fourth quarter.
RIM said the first of the new BlackBerrys will be available on Thursday in Britain, with other countries following as carriers complete their testing.

In the U.S. market, which sets trends that other countries follow, the BlackBerry Z10 touchscreen device will go on sale in March. U.S. carrier Verizon Wireless said the phone would cost $199 for a two-year contract, while Canada's Rogers Communications is quoting C$149 for certain three-year plans.

SHARES SLUMP

RIM shares initially rallied on Wednesday, but soon fell as much as 8 percent below Tuesday's close. The stock is down 90 percent from its 2008 peak as the BlackBerry has lost ground to rival devices. But in the last four months its volatile shares have more than doubled as buzz grew about the new devices.

"It was such a well-advertised launch date that people moved the stock up and then they took profits ahead of when it was going to be revealed," said Ian Nakamoto, director of research at Macdougall, Macdougall and Mactier in Toronto.

"For RIM, it's a normal stock market day. It would have been an abnormal stock market day if it had got cut in half or something."

The legal name change to BlackBerry from Research In Motion takes affect after shareholders approve the decision, but the company already plans to do business under the BlackBerry name.
"We want our employees to say, 'I work for BlackBerry.' Our customers to say, 'I own a BlackBerry.' Our shareholders to say, 'I own BlackBerry stock,'" said chief marketing officer Frank Boulben. "We want to become what I'd call a branded house versus a house of brands."

The new BlackBerry 10 phones will compete with Apple's (NSQ:AAPL - News) iPhone and devices using Google's (NSQ:GOOG - News) Android technology, both of which have soared above the BlackBerry in a competitive market.

The BlackBerry 10 devices boast fast browsers, new features, smart cameras and, unlike previous BlackBerry models, enter the market primed with a large application library, including services such as Skype and the popular game Angry Birds.

The new devices are sleek black numbers, one with the small "qwerty" keyboard that RIM made into its trademark, and one a pure touchscreen device that looks much like those its competitors already produce.

"QWERTY" DEVICE IN APRIL
The Q10 "qwerty" device will launch later than the Z10 touchscreen. Heins said it would hit global markets in April.

RIM picked a range of venues for its global launch parties, including Dubai's $650-a-night Armani Hotel, which occupies six floors of the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest tower.

The New York event took place in a sprawling basketball facility on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, just north of the Manhattan Bridge. The Blackberry has been "Re-designed. Re-engineered. Re-invented," RIM said.

RIM, which is splurging on a Superbowl ad to promote its new phones, also introduced Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Alicia Keys as its global creative director.

"I was in a long-term relationship with BlackBerry, and then I started to notice some new, kind of hotter, attractive, sexier phones at the gym, and I kind of broke up with you for something that had a little more bling," Keys said at the New York launch.

"But I always missed the way you organized my life, and the way you were there for me at my job, and so I started to have two phones - I was kind of playing the field. But then ... you added a lot more features ... and now, we're exclusively dating again, and I'm very happy."

Iraq War Vet Brendan Marrocco Gets Double Arm Transplant

Image: U.S. Army infantryman Brendan Marroco discusses his double arm transplant

Brendan Marrocco has faced adversity and adversary square in the face. I feel that the impact on this fella has been a great one. He is a hero and fought for our freedom here in the United States, however our freedom came at a price to him.

He has experienced war firsthand and Lost both arms and both legs to the war. This in itself has been rough for him. There sheds a light on this subject he was given 2 donor arms and the were surgically attached to his existing arms.A team of 16 doctors/ surgeons took on a surgery that would forever again chance this veteran for ever. A new set of arms.

The surgery was carried out at the Johns Hopkins Hospital with the 16 surgeons and the procedure took at least 13 hours to complete.  Connecting bone, nerves, muscle tissue and skin to make it a success.

In his words:

"I hated not having arms," Marrocco said during the news conference. "I was all right with not having legs. Not having arms takes so much away from you."

" It's given me a lot of hope for the future. I feel like I’m getting a second chance to start over after I got hurt,” Marrocco said. “I’m excited for the future.”

He looks to be optimistic!!

Sam, the cat with eyebrows, is the Internet's new favorite feline

Sam, the cat with eyebrows, is the Internet's new favorite feline

Sam, the cat with eyebrows (© samhaseyebrows via Instagram)

I found this article to be interesting. A cat with eyebrows. I am a Rottweiler fan but this cat takes the cake. In most of the images he is just laid back and relaxed like a cat should be, but gives us a look that would just melt your heart.

This cat, Sam has built in eyebrows and could be the next Don Juan of the Internet. Watch out female cats this one is on the loose.

He was found on an Instagram share and with those eyebrows he can give an array of different expressions. For instance" Hello there" "You looking at me?" " Good Evening"or even one like "HUH". Normal cats do not have eyebrows that are visible like this one and I think Sam is a unique cat. I would hug him! Who would have thought that a cat with these markings would be an Internet sensation? Cute I say - Simply cute!

Rottweiler Causes a Baby Laughing Attack

HI,
I was looking at some videos and found this one rather cute. It was verysweet to see a Rottweiler making a todler laugh. It is kind of adictive. i am a huge fan of pets and pet related communities.

We have several Rottie's at our residence and they are absolutely wonderful. It is nice to see a rather large dog with a tiny baby, given the track history of large breed scary dogs.

These dogs are known to be very protective and usually an one person owner. They devout so much time and love into their family that they would almost die to protect the family. It is nice to see an actual family member enjoying the dog as in the video below. This little kid is having a blast!

Quite entertaining!
Enjoy the Video! I sure did!!

Got to love the Rottie's. They are the most friendly and loving pets I know.
I want to build a kennel for them and have an adoption
type place for dogs that are not able to find their forever home.
I plan to have an adoption agency for displaced dogs and cats
and have it fully functional with a staff Veterinarian.
Hey! I love to dream and I'm dreaming big!
How would you like to do something - anything for your local community?
Help out some way and have the funds to do it.

Sarah Palin Out At Fox News

Sarah Palin Out At Fox News

Sarah Palin has parted ways with Fox News, multiple outlets wrote on Friday.
Real Clear Politics was the first to report that Palin — who reportedly signed a $1 million-a-year contract with the network in 2010 — will not be renewing it. The New York Times' Brian Stelter later confirmed the news with Fox News.

A "source close to Palin" told RCP that she had turned down a new offer. Fox News merely told the New York Times in a statement that it wished her the best.

The news is not very surprising, but it does highlight, as much as anything, Palin's diminished relevance. Reports about the increasingly icy relationship between Palin and Fox News CEO Roger Ailes have been circulating for years. He has mocked her in public, and is said to have privately labeled her "stupid." Meanwhile, her public profile has waned as the years since her bid for the vice presidency grind on.

In August, New York magazine's Gabriel Sherman wrote that a new contract for Palin was a very iffy thing indeed. That report came the day after Palin publicly complained that the network had canceled some of her appearances.

By the time her contract ended, it had been since mid-December that Palin had appeared on Fox News at all.

On Monday night, Lady Gaga was surpassed by Justin Bieber as the most followed person on Twitter.
STORY HIGHLIGHTS
  • Justin Bieber surpasses Lady Gaga to become the most followed person on Twitter
  • As of Tuesday morning Bieber had about 33,333,000 followers to Gaga's 33,329,000
  • But Gaga still has more "Likes" on Facebook

(CNN) -- In a perfect world, our most popular Twitterer might be a brilliant scientist, writer, philosopher or spiritual leader.
In this world, he is an 18-year-old pop star with famous hair.

On Monday night, Justin Bieber surpassed fellow singer Lady Gaga to become the most-followed person on Twitter. As of Tuesday morning, The Biebs had more than 33,333,000 followers, while Gaga was closing in on 33,329,000. Both numbers continued to creep up, but it appeared Bieber was gradually increasing his lead.

Neither had immediately acknowledged the milestone on Twitter. Gaga's latest tweet was a message to fans about her concert Monday night in Hollywood, California, while Bieber's was a plug for a recent Teen Vogue photo shoot.

Based on their respective rates of growth, Bieber and his hordes of Beliebers were projected to overtake Gaga on Sunday afternoon, according to Twitter Counter, but Gaga's Little Monsters put up a fight.

The coiffed Canadian crooner is Twitter's first new king or queen since Gaga dethroned Britney Spears in August 2010. But Gaga still has more fans on Facebook -- almost 55 million, compared to Bieber's 50,666,000. (Rihanna tops both with 65 million.)

Twitter's top 10 users (seven of them are singers):

Beyonce's Super Bowl Set List: From Destiny's Child To 'Crazy In Love'

Beyonce's Super Bowl Set List: From Destiny's Child To 'Crazy In Love'

Beyonce Super Bowl Set List

It's not a full preview, but sources have revealed a supposed selection of the songs Beyonce will be performing at this year's Super Bowl halftime show.

According to Us Weekly's unnamed source (*takes grain of salt*), the show will kick off with "Crazy in Love" and a few solo tracks before transitioning to the Destiny's Child reunion concert that so many people born in the mid-to-late '80s have been hungering for.

What you can expect to hear: "Bills, Bills, Bills," "Survivor" and the trio's new song, "Nuclear."
Those four are the only songs revealed by the gossip magazine, but we'd like to formally request that "Jumpin' Jumpin'" be added to said set list.

Also: "Say My Name" and "Bootylicious."

Of course, Super Bowl details are a great way to distract Beyonce's fans and detractors from her performance at Monday's presidential inauguration.

She either did or did not lip sync the national anthem, depending on who you ask. On Thursday, an "inaugural official" told CNN that Beyonce did, in fact, rely on a backing track during her stellar performance. (Us Weekly's source says that's not true, but that person is an "insider" that's allegedly close to the singer.)

Since news of the pre-recorded track came to light on Tuesday, a whole host of famous faces have come out in Beyonce's defense. To wit: Destiny's Child bandmate Michelle Williams, fellow belter Alicia Keys and the guy from Milli Vanilli. Aretha Franklin laughed.

Destiny's Child['s label] will look to cash in on Beyonce's gig by releasing an album of old love songs in late January. The disc will be anchored by the Pharrell Williams-produced "Nuclear," a track that has yet to make much of an impression on the radio.

This year's Super Bowl takes place on Feb. 3, and the Beyonce will take center stage at halftime. Be there or be not-fierce.

Michael Jordan and Justin Bieber are totally besties now

Michael Jordan and Justin Bieber are totally besties now

Such tight bros. (Photo via the Bobcats' Instagram)

Two titans of basketball and popular culture finally crossed paths in Charlotte on Tuesday night, as 2011 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game MVP Justin Bieber, in town for the Charlotte stop on his "Believe" tour at Time Warner Cable Arena, met "Pro Stars" principal Michael Jordan, owner of the building's primary tenant, the Charlotte Bobcats.
If you felt a slight tremor beneath your feet last night, it's only natural; this is what happens when mega-powers collide, which is word to Hulk and Macho.

After the encounter, Biebdawgs took to Twitter — duh — to share his giddiness with his fans:

This just confirms one of my long-held suspicions — meeting Michael Jordan in the bowels of an arena in Charlotte is more exciting than sitting front row at a Los Angeles Lakers game.
Glad I stuck to the scientific method to find definitive proof to support my theorem.

It does still seem weird, though, that Bieber didn't have the same kind of reaction to meeting Sam Perkins.
I mean, that's "Big Smooth," man. Still, shouts out to Biebs for completing the rare "Nov. 28, 1983 Sports Illustrated cover" two-fer. Man, this kid's good.

Photo via the Charlotte Bobcats' Instagram account, duh. Hat-tip to Seth Rosenthal at SB Nation

Ending Procrastination

Ending Procrastination

Recently I am subscribed to Jim Rohn's newsletter and I would like to share what
he has to say on Ending Procrastination.

There are many things, ideas that he points out that are so true to today's world when
we CHOOSE to do something or to CHOOSE not to do something. Will it make us
or break us?

His Newsletter here states:

Ending Procrastination by Jim Rohn

Perseverance is about as important to achievement as gasoline is to driving a car. Sure, there will be times when you feel like you’re spinning your wheels, but you’ll always get out of the rut with genuine perseverance.

Without it, you won’t even be able to start your engine.
The opposite of perseverance is procrastination. Perseverance means you never quit. Procrastination usually means you never get started, although the inability to finish something is also a form of procrastination.

Ask people why they procrastinate and you’ll often hear something like this: “I’m a perfectionist. Everything has to be just right before I can get down to work. No distractions, not too much noise, no telephone calls interrupting me, and of course I have to be feeling well physically, too. I can’t work when I have a headache.”

The other end of procrastination—being unable to finish—also has a perfectionist explanation: “I’m just never satisfied. I’m my own harshest critic. If all the i’s aren’t dotted and all the t’s aren’t crossed, I just can’t consider that I’m done. That’s just the way I am, and I’ll probably never change.”

Do you see what’s going on here? A fault is being turned into a virtue. The perfectionist is saying that his standards are just too high for this world. This fault-into-virtue syndrome is a common defense when people are called upon to discuss their weaknesses, but in the end it’s just a very pious kind of excuse making.

It certainly doesn’t have anything to do with what’s really behind procrastination.
Remember, the basis of procrastination could be fear of failure. That’s what perfectionism really is, once you take a hard look at it.

What’s the difference whether you’re afraid of being less than perfect or afraid of anything else? You’re still paralyzed by fear. What’s the difference whether you never start or never finish? You’re still stuck. You’re still going nowhere.

You’re still overwhelmed by whatever task is before you. You’re still allowing yourself to be dominated by a negative vision of the future in which you see yourself being criticized, laughed at, punished, or ridden out of town on a rail.

Of course, this negative vision of the future is really a mechanism that allows you to do nothing. It’s a very convenient mental tool.
I’m going to tell you how to overcome procrastination. I’m going to show you how to turn procrastination into perseverance, and if you do what I suggest, the process will be virtually painless. It involves using two very powerful principles that foster productivity and perseverance instead of passivity and procrastination.

The first principle is: break it down.
No matter what you’re trying to accomplish, whether it’s writing a book, climbing a mountain, or painting a house, the key to achievement is your ability to break down the task into manageable pieces and knock them off one at one time.

Focus on accomplishing what’s right in front of you at this moment. Ignore what’s off in the distance someplace. Substitute real-time positive thinking for negative future visualization. That’s the first all-important technique for bringing an end to procrastination.

Suppose I were to ask you if you could write a four-hundred-page novel. If you’re like most people, that would sound like an impossible task. But suppose I ask you a different question. Suppose I ask if you can write a page and a quarter a day for one year.

Do you think you could do it? Now the task is starting to seem more manageable. We’re breaking down the four-hundred-page book into bite-size pieces. Even so, I suspect many people would still find the prospect intimidating. Do you know why? Writing a page and a quarter may not seem so bad, but you’re being asked to look ahead one whole year.

When people start to do look that far ahead, many of them automatically go into a negative mode. So let me formulate the idea of writing a book in yet another way. Let me break it down even more.
Suppose I were to ask you, Can you fill up a page and a quarter with words—not for a year, not for a month, not even for a week, but just today?

Don’t look any further ahead than that. I believe most people would confidently declare that they could accomplish that. Of course, these would be the same people who feel totally incapable of writing a whole book.

If I said the same thing to those people tomorrow–if I told them, I don’t want you to look back, and I don’t want you to look ahead, I just want you to fill up a page and a quarter this very day–do you think they could do it?

One day at a time. We’ve all heard that phrase. That’s what we’re doing here. We’re breaking down the time required for a major task into one–day segments, and we’re breaking down the work involved in writing a four-hundred-page book into page-and-a-quarter increments.

Keep this up for one year, and you’ll write the book. Discipline yourself to look neither forward nor backward, and you can accomplish things you never thought you could possibly do. And it all begins with those three words: break it down.

The second principle is: write it down.
My second technique for defeating procrastination is also only three words long. The three words are: write it down. We know how important writing is to goal setting. The writing you’ll do for beating procrastination is very similar.

Instead of focusing on the future, however, you’re now going to be writing about the present just as you experience it every day. Instead of describing the things you want to do or the places you want to go, you’re going to describe what you actually do with your time, and you’re going to keep a written record of the places you actually go.

In other words, you’re going to keep a diary of your activities. And you’re going to be amazed by the distractions, detours, and downright wastes of time you engage in during the course of a day. All of these get in the way of achieving your goals

. For many people, it’s almost like they planned it that way, and maybe at some unconscious level they did. The great thing about keeping a time diary is that it brings all this out in the open. It forces you to see what you’re actually doing... and what you’re not doing.

The time diary doesn’t have to be anything elaborate. Just buy a little spiral notebook that you can easily carry in your pocket. When you go to lunch, when you drive across town, when you go to the dry cleaners, when you spend some time shooting the breeze at the copying machine, make a quick note of the time you began the activity and the time it ends.

Try to make this notation as soon as possible; if it’s inconvenient to do it immediately, you can do it later. But you should make an entry in your time diary at least once every thirty minutes, and you should keep this up for at least a week.

Break it down. Write it down. These two techniques are very straightforward. But don’t let that fool you: These are powerful and effective productivity techniques that allow you put an end to procrastination and help you get started to achieving your goals.

Marine Band Backs Off Beyonce Lip-Syncing Statement

Marine Band Backs Off Beyonce Lip-Syncing Statement

WASHINGTON — There's no question Beyonce's rendition of the national anthem was a roaring success. The mystery: was it live or lip synced?
On Tuesday, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Marine Band told news outlets that Beyonce had lip synced at President Barack Obama's inauguration. Master Sgt. Kristin duBois said the band was notified at the last minute that Beyonce would use a pre-recorded voice track.
But by late afternoon, the Marine Corps backed off that statement.
Marine Corps spokesman Capt. Gregory Wolf said that because there was no opportunity for Beyonce to rehearse with the Marine Band, it was determined that a live performance by the band was ill advised. Instead they used a pre-recorded track for the band's portion of the song.
"Regarding Ms. Knowles-Carter's vocal performance," Wolf's statement continued, "no one in the Marine Band is in a position to assess whether it was live or pre-recorded."
A representative for Beyonce did not respond to requests for comment.
DuBois declined to answer further questions. Earlier in the day, she told The New York Times that the rest of the inaugural performance was live and they did not know why a recorded track was used for the national anthem.
"It's not because Beyonce can't sing. We all know Beyonce can sing. We all know the Marine Band can play," she said.
Kelly Clarkson's representative said she sang live to perform "My Country, `Tis of Thee."
Inaugural organizers did not respond to requests for comment.
All inaugural music is pre-recorded in case weather conditions or other circumstances could interrupt the program.
The use of a recording is typical in big events. In 2009, cellist Yo-Yo Ma was questioned about "hand-syncing" for Obama's first inauguration. Ma said instruments weren't functioning properly in 19-degree weather.
Even in good conditions, producing good sound can be a challenge in a large open space.
Some artists choose to lip-sync. Whitney Houston's memorable performance of the national anthem in 1991 at the Super Bowl was sung to a track.

Solar Blob Attacks the Earth!

Solar Blob Attacks the Earth!
Solar-blob

On January 13, the National Weather Service’s Space Weather Prediction Center issued a scary-sounding news flash. “ALERT,” it said. “Type IV Radio Emission.” If that was too arcane-sounding to get you spooked, there was this detail that followed: type IV emissions usually result from a major eruption on the Sun.

That is exactly what had happened. The Sun is currently entering the peak of its 11-year cycle of magnetic activity. When that happens — the actual peak comes in 2013 — its surface becomes blotchy with sunspots, its luminosity grows fractionally brighter, and it sends giant flares up in sweeping arcs above the solar atmosphere. Every so often, it also ejects a blob of hot, charged particles speeding into space.

(More: Stellar Dust Ring Could Promise Big Things)

Typically, we don’t have much to fear from these kinds of events, but the January 13 blob, known more formally as a coronal mass ejection, or CME, was blasted more or less directly toward Earth, at about a million m.p.h. (1.6 million k/h)

.
In principle, that could have led to a disaster. When a mass of charged particles slams into our planet’s magnetic field, it can send jolts of electromagnetic energy shooting in all directions, causing what’s known as a geomagnetic storm that can threaten communications satellites and radio transmissions, and even trigger blackouts like the one that struck Quebec in 1989 when a CME zapped a regional power grid.

On the plus side, geomagnetic storms also tend to trigger amazing displays of the Aurora Borealis — the Northern Lights, to you and me. A CME that passed by last spring, for example, seems to have had that effect.

But like breathless warnings of wintertime blizzards that turn out to be mere flurries, this CME was something of a dud. “We’re not going to be in for a big disturbance,” the Space Weather Prediction Center’s Norm Cohen told MSNBC shortly after the eruption was detected.

(More: Weather Patterns On a Cosmic Oddball)

Sure enough, when the blob finally arrived on Thursday after covering the 93 million miles (150 million km) between Sun and Earth, the disruption was minimal. “Weak power grid fluctuations may occur,” read that day’s alert. “Minor impact on satellite operations possible.”

(Photos: Window on Infinity: Pictures from Space)

We hadn’t exactly dodged the bullet; instead, the bullet turned out to be made of rubber. The Sun will be crackling with magnetic storms for many months to come, however and may spawn more CMEs or even the fantastic fiery tempests known as solar tornados. The pyrotechnics, in other words, are hardly over — and neither is the danger.

Barbara Walters Recovering After Fall

Barbara Walters Recovering After Fall
 Barbara Walters Recovering After Fall
Barbara Walters has been hospitalized after taking a tumble on Saturday night in Washington, D.C., but a rep tells ET that the 83-year-old newswoman looks to be recovering well.

"Barbara Walters fell on a stair last evening while visiting the British Ambassador's residence and the fall left her with a cut on her forehead," the rep confirmed to ET.

"Out of an abundance of caution, she went to the hospital to have her cut tended to, have a full examination and remains there for observation.

Barbara is alert (and telling everyone what to do), which we all take as a very positive sign."

Later, ET caught up with Piers Morgan at Newsweek's Inaugural Brunch in Georgetown, who sent well-wishes to his fellow journalist, saying, "I hope she is okay. I had just heard about it. She is one of my heroes. We are thinking about her."

Obama sworn in for a second term

President Barack Obama on Sunday was officially sworn in for a second term in a private ceremony lasting just a few minutes at the White House.

Chief Justice John Roberts delivered the oath of office in the White House Blue Room just before noon—the time on Jan. 20 by which the president must be sworn in as directed by the U.S. Constitution.

Because Jan. 20 fell on a Sunday this year, the official swearing-in was held in private with pooled press coverage and will be re-administered in public Monday at the U.S. Capitol.
First lady Michelle Obama held a family Bible—a gift from her late father to her mother—on which the president took the oath Sunday. Obama added "so help me God" at the end of the oath as has been customary.

Daughters Sasha and Malia stood with their parents.
"Good job, daddy," Sasha said to her father following the oath.
"I did it," he responded, as they embraced.
But Sasha had one more thing to add.
"You didn't mess up," she said. The president smiled.
There were no missteps this time around.

At the public swearing-in at the Capitol in 2009, the president and Roberts had an awkward exchange in which Roberts appeared to misplace the word “faithfully” during the oath. Roberts later re-adminstered the oath in private to quell any doubts about the authenticity of the swearing-in.
This time around, Roberts on Sunday read the oath from a sheet of paper he was holding.
Vice President Joe Biden was sworn in earlier Sunday at the Naval Observatory—the vice president’s official residence—by Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who became on Sunday the first Hispanic to administer the oath of office.

Biden, surrounded by family, took the oath in a private ceremony attended by 120 guests, who included family, friends, former colleagues and others. He used a family Bible for the ceremony.
Following the formalities, Biden gestured at the large crowd applauding. “Justice, these are some of my friends and my family,” Biden said and explained that Sotomayor had to work to fit the swearing-in into her schedule and needed to immediately catch a train to New York.

Following Biden’s swearing-in, the president and vice president laid the traditional wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery.
The Obama family stopped at Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church in Washington for a service on their way back from the cemetery.

Following his swearing-in, the president planned to spend time with his family Sunday before attending an inaugural reception at the National Building Museum scheduled for Sunday night.

Joseph Kelley, Utah Man, Takes Rifle To J.C. Penney To Show Guns Can Be Safe

Joseph Kelley, Utah Man, Takes Rifle To J.C. Penney To Show Guns Can Be Safe

Utah man brought a rifle and a pistol with him to a J.C. Penney department store to demonstrate that guns can be safe in the hands of law-abiding citizens.

On Wednesday, Cindy Yorgason was shopping at the J.C. Penney in Riverdale when she saw a man with a rifle slung across his chest, extra ammunition and a sidearm in a holster on his right hip, according to KSL 5 TV. She took some photos and posted them to Facebook, where images quickly went viral.

"He was in the wrong place and shouldn't be doing this at this location," Yorgason told KSL, adding that she didn't feel threatened at the time.
The rifle-toting shopper was later identified as 22-year-old Joseph Kelley. He revealed that he was carrying an unloaded AR-15 and the handgun was a loaded Glock 19C, according to The Salt Lake Tribune, adding that he is a firm believer in the Second Amendment.

He said he brought the guns to J.C. Penney to show that firearms are not dangerous in the hands of law-abiding citizens.
"I felt no negative vibes from anyone," Kelley told the Tribune. "I think it went rather surprisingly well."

He said he carries weapons with him in order to protect children and others from "criminals, cartels, drug lords" and other "evil men."

Kelley is not the only one to openly carry firearms in a pro-Second Amendment demonstration -- a move gun advocates have made since President Barack Obama's push for stricter gun control legislation in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

Earlier this month, Warren Drouin and Steven Boyce of Portland, Ore., walked down a main street in the northwest city carrying their assault rifles. They said they were exercising the Second Amendment and hoped to educate the public on gun rights.
Drouin said he wanted bystanders to talk to them, not call the police.

"What they really should do is observe the person to determine if the person is aggressive. We're not doing anything threatening to anyone," he said.

Carrying firearms in public is legal in Oregon and carrying a concealed handgun is also legal with a valid license, according to KPTV.

RNC’s Priebus Endorses Plan To Rig Electoral College

If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.
That appears to be Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus’ philosophy when it comes to rigging elections in the GOP’s favor. In 2012, the strategy was suppressing votes through voter ID laws, ending same-day voter registration, and clamping down on early voting, among other restrictive legislation. According to the Brennan Center for Justice, 25 laws and two executive actions were passed in 19 states over the past two years with the aim of making it harder to vote.
In 2013, the plan appears to be changing the way that votes are counted. Priebus has stepped forward as the latest Republican to support a proposal that would split Wisconsin’s electoral votes by congressional district.

“I think it’s something that a lot of states that have been consistently blue that are fully controlled red ought to be looking at,” Priebus said of the plan, which would deliver two electoral votes to the winner of the popular vote in the state, and divide the rest based on who wins each district.
As Dave Weigel points out at Slate, in 2011 Wisconsin’s Republican-controlled statehouse gerrymandered the state’s districts to create five Republican seats and three Democratic seats. Under the Priebus-backed proposal, Mitt Romney would have won as many electors in Wisconsin as President Obama, despite winning 213,019 fewer votes.
Unsurprisingly, the victims of this plan would be the same urban voters whom an apparently shocked Paul Ryan blamed for the Republican defeat in 2012, and whom most voter suppression efforts in the last election targeted.

According to National Journal’s Reid Wilson, Republicans are already preparing electoral vote-splitting laws in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, and hope to eventually expand the push to Florida, Ohio, and Virginia. If the GOP had successfully enacted the laws in all six states before the 2012 election, President Obama’s margin of victory would have shrunk from 322-206 to 270-268. Under two other proposed reforms — in which the overall statewide winner would not automatically receive two electoral votes — Romney would have been elected president, despite losing the popular vote by 4 percent.

“If you did the calculation, you’d see a massive shift of electoral votes in states that are blue and fully [in] red control,” a senior Republican who is actively involved in pushing the electoral split scheme told Wilson. “There’s no kind of autopsy and outreach that can grab us those electoral votes that quickly.”

So there you have it: instead of examining why voters overwhelmingly rejected their party in 2012 and adjusting their policies accordingly, some Republicans hope to simply steal the next one, and do it quickly. For voting rights advocates who warned that democracy was being threatened in 2012, there will be no rest for the weary.

Monday's

Monday's

G'Day,

Hi everyone!
Hope your day has begun well even though it is Monday again.
Sometimes we all dread the beginning of the week and Monday is the day...

Why so, because the weekend  was fun or full of adventure or a lazy day in front of the boob tube
with a sody and popcorn watching movies. Relaxing!!!  No responsibilities-No worries.

At work I here all week long I wish it were Friday, because I have a lot to do this weekend. My co-workers are all excited for Friday but not so much for Monday. Haha

Monday's

I find that Monday's are not liked well and people have written songs about why Monday's bring them down, like as in depressed and terribly sad. Does anything good happen on a Monday? I see that some people can be excited to have a holiday off and it just so happens to land there square on a Monday. "Oh yeah got Monday off!" "Extended Weekend!"

So they put off what they need to be doing until the last minute of the day to then cram it into the evening before they have to get rest and return to work the next day. This could be that dreaded Monday or the dreaded Tuesday. Either way Monday's still stink. This is regardless of the holiday or extended weekend.

Monday's

Monday's mean back to the hustle and bustle of the world around us. The beginning of the week and  can always be a dang rush. It forces us back into the work world and try to digest most of what is coming at us even in normal to abnormal circumstances.

Well, folks I shall conclude this part of the Monday's blog and hope that all of you reading will not have a bad Monday...
I wish you all the best
Tina

This weekend I worked on my pc to prepare a bunch of ads for Monday morning. My ads are pretty good but need to ingest more traffic to them.

Happy Saturday!

Ahh, nothing like having a weekend off. No doubt that it would be good. However, it is raining and kinda nasty out. Unlike yesterday when it was warm out and at least 60 degrees. then again I had to work.
A little about me...

My name is Tina and I work at a busy local hospital here in town. We are very busy in the emergency room and on our main halls. I have 4 boys, a husband and a new grandaughter. She was born here in January.

I have enrolled into a flight school so I can learn about flight and how to fly a helicopter. Eventually fly for the local air ambulance. A pilot has been my ambition for a long time. I was 14 when I first wanted to fly. Unfortunaltely, where I graduated, the school didn't offer JROTC. So my ambition to be a fighter pilot was out. So I thought.

Now I started many business's on line and none were able to prove themselves like the most recent one I started. I have been active in it for at least a month now. It is Empower Network.

I found that the teaching here is very top of the line and they over deliver for  what you pay to get involved. My Link is here www.joinwithtina.info
Really, to join is simple.

$25 that is it to join...

However, this is not a ploy to get you involved or a hard sell. Once you are in it wouldn't take long to see what is waiting. It is just that good.

Getting an Master's in online marketing for a fraction of what it costs in school.

I must go for now.
Comment  or like.

I'll add a video soon.
